Planning and evaluation fo the article

After some reasearch of other music magazine on their double page spread it gave me lots of idea of how to lay out the page, use of color and language. Result of language from Q magazine, they use a formal language but for Karrang! magazine's language is and english standart with some slang words used. From what I get through this research I decided the language use for my magazine to be formal and the article will be Profiles type. The profiles type is where I do the in-depth overview in one of the band. Throughout my article will also include some of their answers that I get from interviewing them. Follow by some quote that stood out during the interview that will also draws the audience attention of wanting to know more about the article. The quote that I have for the article will be put into a saparate box apart from the article boxes. Because the article talk about a new band, so I also put their name, age, and the instrument that each of them play. I think this can be another way of introducing them to the reader. The photos that I have for this article aren't dominated in two page but stay only one side of the page but the articles are dominated to the other page.

This is my first draft for my double page. I have been asking my friend what she think about my lay out. Her oppinion for my lay out is that the way I position the photos look more like a fashion magazine rather a music magazine. Which I do agree with her and one of the reason is because I don't have the background in image or view but playing in color instead.

This is my second draft or I'll say my final draft. i change the position of the images and group them in one of the page. I still stay with the same background which are two colors fading. The color tone of the background I base on the color from one of the imgas' shirt which are light and dark blue almost gray. The background color are also well fit with the Title of the artical, 'Silver'. I also choose the color for the word 'silver' in light gray to refer the word itself.

Photos and photos editing

This is my cover image that I took. I decided to make them stand in the position that I have in mind during my flat plan which is in a 2 dimention position and it came out just as I wanted. But still the photo that I took still have a slitly problem which are the quality of the light and sharpness of the image and also the light that reflact back to the glasses of my model makes it hard to see his eye. I decided to do some editing by increase more light, reduce the contrast to make the image look more darker, shaper and brings out the color of the photos more. I also add a photos effect which are 'Lens flare' as you can see that it work from the top right of the image angel down to the bottom left this is to make the image more flash in color and light. For the eyes work, I crop out his eyes from another photo that I took of him without him waring glasses. Using a magic wand tools to do so and copy it and over lap it to the one that I want. I spend some time to make it look less notice as much as I can by using 'clone stamp and clone tools' in ther process.

The dressing style of the two are more to thier own taste of rock plus their youth that are perfect match for my target audience's age which are between 16-30. Their determined look that look right at the camara as if they are watching the reader. I choose to have nothing on the background for two reasons, first if I had a fancy backgroud it might over lap with the pattern of their shirt and makes the picture look messy. Second, when I put up the main sells and the main flash title or images it will be easier to read and easier to choose a colors

These are the photo that I chose for my double page spread. When I took this picture I let them stand in near the window so that I can use the natural light in stead of the flash because it makes part of the object that didn't reach the flash got dark. Because of the style of their music combind rock, pop, and classic so the way they dress I wanted it to be more formal but still have a scents of rock in themselves. I use these full photos for the magazine cover in the main sell. For the double page spread I decided to crop it sparate them so that I can use each of their photos into the positon that I want. I did not fix any lighting because I'm quite satisfy the light that I got from this phto taken.
